Why is the cost of licensure $225.00 while other professional licenses are less?

The General Assembly did not budget funds for the operation of the Licensure Board. We are prohibited from using General Funds from the State. The Board is expected to be self-supporting. Because there are few interpreters (as opposed to, for example, teachers) there are few people to support the Board's operations. If it is determined later that the Board does not require the $225.00 in order to operate, the fees could be lowered.
