What are the five new categories that qualify an interpreter for a Provisional License?

Previously there were four categories for which one could obtain a Provisional License. They are:
  1. Has a valid NAD Level II or III credential, or
  2. Holds a North Carolina Interpreter Classification System Level C, or
  3. Has a recognized credential from another state in the field of interpreting/transliterating, or
  4. Holds at least a two-year interpreting degree from a regionally accredited institution, or

Five new categories were added. They are:
  1. Holds a current EIPA Level 3 or above, or
  2. Certified Deaf Interpreter (CDI) that completes 30 hours of specified training, or
  3. Oral Interpreter that completes 40 hours of specified training, or
  4. Cued Speech Interpreter that completes 40 hours of specified training, or
  5. Has accumulated 200 hours of interpreting/transliterating per year in this State or another State totaling 400 hours for the two years immediately preceding the date of their application.
