Why do Codas (Children of Deaf Adults) have to be licensed?
Codas may or may not have the skills or training required to be a competent interpreter. They must be held accountable for their actions and ethical behavior just like any other professional. Standards must be in place for all practitioners to protect consumers (both hear and deaf).
