FAQ

I have a Grandfather License. Should I consider getting a Full License?

If you do not renew your Grandfather license, and have no national credentials (e.g. RID/NAD, NCSA, etc.) and do not have a two-year college degree, and you decided later to apply for Full License, you would have to go through the process of getting a National Interpreter Certification through RID and get a two-year college degree. If you currently hold a Grandfather License, and have national credentials you can apply for Full License (approval would actually convert you from Grandfather to Full). You are not required to have a two year degree IF you convert from one license to another (such as from Grandfather to Full, or Provisional to Full) provided you received the License prior to the two-year degree requirement (prior to October 1, 2008). Do keep in mind that you can renew your Grandfather License every year for as long as you wish.
